About TheNameWheel
A free, fair, and fun random picker built for classrooms, giveaways, and everyday decisions.
Why we built it
We kept running into the same thing. You need to pick one name out of thirty, you search for a spinner wheel, and you land on a page buried in ads, asking you to make an account, quietly building a profile of you while a banner covers half the wheel. For something that should take five seconds, that is a lot to put up with.
So we built the version we actually wanted. A random picker should be instant, it should be private, and it should work for everyone — the teacher on a classroom projector, the organiser running a raffle at the front of a room, the team lead deciding who presents first. No sign-up wall, nothing collected about the names you type, and no waiting for scripts to load before the page becomes usable.
That is the whole idea. Your names go in, the wheel spins, someone wins, and nothing about it leaves your browser. We count page views so we know which wheels people actually use, but the entries themselves are never part of that. It is free because it costs us almost nothing to run when we are not storing your data.
What we stand for
Privacy First
Your entries stay in your browser and are never uploaded to our servers. Close the tab and they are gone, unless you chose to save the wheel on your own device.
Zero Friction
No account, no download, no setup screen. Open the page, type or paste your names, and spin in a matter of seconds.
Fair by Design
The winner is picked by the browser before the animation begins, so the spin is a reveal rather than a decision. Every entry carries exactly the weight you gave it, with nothing hidden in between.
What that means in practice
Safe for classrooms
The wheel never asks a student for a name, email, or any personal detail.
No account required
Nothing to sign up for, and no login stands between you and a spin.
Ads only if you allow them
Google AdSense is our one ad partner, and it loads only after you accept. Decline and no ad code runs at all.
Analytics you control
Google Analytics measures page visits only. Until you accept, it runs cookieless — no identifier, nothing stored on your device.
Keeps working offline
Once the page has loaded, spinning needs no internet connection at all.
Ads keep the wheel free, and the optional newsletter form in the footer is the one place we accept an email address. The privacy policy sets out exactly what each one does.
