Zero friction, by design

No sign-up, ever

Open the page, paste your names, spin. There is no account wall, no "continue as guest" prompt, and no email field between you and the wheel.

Local by default

Your entry list lives in localStorage on this device. Share, Embed, and QR links are optional and place the wheel data in the URL so another browser can open it.

Save without an account

Save up to 20 wheels in your browser. They persist across sessions until you clear site data. No cloud sync, no login — the trade-off is that clearing your browser clears your wheels.

Share without an account

The Share button encodes your entire wheel into a URL. Send it to anyone — they get an exact copy in their browser without either of you signing in.

Works on any device

A current browser is all you need. There is no app or extension to install, though managed school devices may still apply their own access policies.

Why other tools ask for an account

An account lets a tool store your data on their server, which is how they offer cloud sync and cross-device access. The cost is that your entry list — your class roster, your entrant names — now lives on someone else's infrastructure.

For many uses that trade is fine. For a teacher with student names, an HR manager with employee names, or a giveaway host with contact details, it is a data-handling decision that should be made deliberately rather than accepted as a default.

TheNameWheel uses local browser storage instead of account-based cloud sync. Sharing is a separate choice: the wheel is encoded into the URL, so you should treat that link as containing the entry list.

What people use it for

Classroom cold calling

Paste the roster, spin in front of the class. No time wasted on logins, and student names stay on the school machine.

Livestream giveaways

Drop entrant names in mid-stream and spin on camera. Your audience sees the draw, not a loading screen.

Team lunch decisions

Three restaurants, one wheel, zero debate. Done before the elevator arrives.

Conference icebreakers

Load attendee names on a projector and spin for who goes next. Works on hotel Wi-Fi without installing anything.

Charity raffle draws

Paste the ticket holders, enable auto-remove, and draw three prizes back to back. Export the CSV for your records.

Family game night

Who picks the movie, who deals, who goes first. A wheel settles it faster than a coin and with more theatre.

Ready to spin?

No account. No email. Just paste, spin, and go.
