Random Team Generator — questions people ask
How does the random team generator work?
Add all participant names to the wheel, set the number of teams you want, then spin. Each spin picks one name and assigns it to the next team in order — Team 1, then Team 2, and so on — and removes that name from the wheel so it cannot be picked twice. Keep spinning until everyone is placed, or use "Assign the rest" to fill the remaining slots in one go.
Can I generate more than two teams?
Yes. Set the "Number of teams" input to any value from 2 to 10 before you start. Names are dealt out in a round-robin pattern, so if the group size does not divide evenly, some teams end up with one more member than others.
Can I change a team assignment after spinning?
Yes. Click "Reset teams" to clear the assignments and start over, or remove a name from the entries list before spinning so it is left out of this round entirely. The teams list is a plain record of what the wheel picked — nothing is locked in.
Does it keep teams equal in size?
It distributes names in a round-robin pattern, so teams are as equal as the group size allows. With 7 names and 3 teams, two teams get 2 members and one gets 3 — and which team gets the extra depends purely on the spin order.
Can I share the wheel with my group?
Yes. Click Share to copy a link that encodes the full name list, so everyone opens the same wheel. The link carries the entries, not the team assignments — those are generated fresh each time the wheel is spun, which is the point.
